The Paper Nickel Stamp Company

The other day a.c.e. gave me a very sweet present; a sheet of stamps featuring the work of about a half dozen abstract expressionist painters. Pollack, Klee, Motherwell. Not quite a bouquet of flowers or a double chocolate cupcake but I do have a thing for stamps and I was quite thrilled to get it. I loved Obasan’s old stamp collection and there is an Audrey Hepburn movie on this subject that I love (no more on that, it would be a bit of a spoiler.) I have a bit of an ‘additional postage’ collection going to accompany a roll of .39 cent stamps acquired years ago.

I recently came across a company that is doing something that I think is wonderful. Have you checked out the currently issued postage available lately? Very few inspiring things at the moment. The Winslow Homer is good and the Navajo Necklace will come in handy the time after the next time the price goes up, but otherwise it’s rather bland. The Paper Nickel Stamp Company fixes this. You can buy pre-made or custom packs of stamps, totaling up to the required .44 cents, from their collection of unused stamps. Stamps dates range from the early 1900’s to the 1980’s. Feeling nautical? You can get that. Want a mini garden for your next letter to mum? You can get that. This isn’t quite going to change the world, but wouldn’t you love to receive a letter in the mail, decked out in personalized vintage postage?
