Interestingly enough, when S and I were one day visiting the Decordova Museum in Lincoln, MA (they have a wonderful outdoor sculpture garden and surrounds), we happened to leave by way of the street where the Gropius House is located. S, as usual, managed to come up with this tidbit: that his aunt Connie W., who was a Harvard School of Architecture graduate, had built a house across the street from the Gropius House. She and her husband Wally designed and built very meticulous reproductions of old New England colonial houses, complete with all the authentic details, working in this area in the 1930’s. She didn’t actually live there, but who knows? Maybe she and Mr Gropius exchanged a few words in the housebuilding process!
